Prologue
(See book)

Scene 1

(After school, near the field.)

Sampson: Gregory, we’re not letting them humiliate us anymore! Those Capulets!! Grrr...
Gregory:No we won’t, which is why we shall take the initiative this time!
(Abram and Balthasar walk over)
Sampson:Speaking of the devil! I shall bite my thumb at them to humiliate them first!
Abram:*sees* Are you biting your thumb at us?
Sampson:*suddenly scared* No dude, I do not bite my thumb at you, I just... Bite my thumb!
(Enter Benvolio)
Gregory:Benvolio is here! We have nothing to fear! Uphold your pride, Sampson, and fight!!!!
(they fight)
Benvolio:Stop it, you guys! Stop this nonsensical fight!
(Enter Tybalt)
Tybalt:Turn around, Benvolio! I am here to take your life, you bastard!
Benvolio:Peace, Tybalt! I do not wish to fight!
Tybalt:Ugh, “peace”... I hate the word like I hate hell! Now face me coward, and fight!!
(they fight)
Citizens: FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!
(Enter teachers and principal)
Principal:What is this madness!!!
Teacher 1:The Capulets and Montagues are at it again!!
Principal:*YELLS* STAAAWWWP!!! You guys are disgracing this school! You know how much effort I have to put in to the reputation of this school?
(they part)
(Enter Montague, Lady Montague, Capulet, and Lady Capulet)
All:What the heck is happening?!
Principal:Listen here you all! You two gangs have disturbed the school for quite some time now and I have to say I do NOT appreciate it! Next time this happens, the person in charge will get seriously in trouble! I’ll call the police!

Scene 2:
Capulet: Hey you there! Can you go around the school and tell these people that they are invited to my party? Go spread the word! (Hands “Clown” the list)
Exeut Capulet.
Clown: Wait Capulet!!! Oh man… I can’t even read! What should I do… (notices Romeo) Good afternoon, young man. Can you read?
Romeo: Yes, certainly. (start reading)
Mercutio and his brother Valentine; My fair niece Rosaline and Livia…
Where are they heading to?
Clown: To the great and powerful Capulet’s house. You are welcomed to the party too, if you aren’t one of the Montagues. (he leaves)
Benvolio: Your beautiful crush Rosaline will also be there at the party. Go there and compare her beauty with those of other girls. I will make you think your swan a crow.
Romeo: Fine, I will go, but no such sight to be shown, but to rejoice in splendour of my own.

(Montague’s Backyard)

Capulet:The party begins, my friends!! I hope you all enjoy this beauteous night!!
Romeo:ERMERGHERD! What beauty is that lady over there by the cocktail bar!!
(Enter Tybalt)
Tybalt:I hear someone! Is that a Montague?? Is that the villain Romeo?!
Capulet:What’s wrong, Tybalt?
Tybalt:Cousin, I think I saw, I mean I heard Romeo... THERE HE IS!
Capulet:If you think you’re going to start a fight, think again. I’m not letting you destroy this party that I have put so much of my time into.
Tybalt:But...
Capulet:Zip it, just let it slip today. I can’t risk my reputation just because you want to fight, alright? Go and enjoy the rest of the party.

Romeo: (taking Juliet by hand) You are so cute. You shine like a rich jewel in the night. Your beauty makes the torches around you look dim. You stand out from the crows like a dove. I have never seen true beauty until tonight. Oh my love, you are so beautiful! I love you.
Benvolio: Oh no. I think the Capulets find out that we are here. Now let’s escape before it’s too late.
Exeut Benvolio, Mercutio along with others

(light turns off/two people on the stage)
Juliet: Oh my! My love sprung from my only hate. Too early seen unknown, and known too late.
Romeo: Is she a Capulet? O dear account! My life is my foe’s debt.

Act 2

Prologue
(See Book)
Scene 1
Benvolio: ROMEO! WHERE ARE YOU ROMEO!!!
Mercutio: Romeo! Humors! Madman! Passion! Lover! Show yourself!! I command you to appear!!!!
(after a while)
Mercutio: It’s no use trying to find him, and the open field is too cold a place to let me sleep. Come on Benvolio, should we go?
Benvolio: Guess there’s no helping it… No point trying to find him when he doesn’t want to be found.

Scene 2
(under Juliet’s balcony)
Juliet: Oh Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo! Deny thy father and refuse thy name. Or, if thou wilt not, I will no longer be a Capulet!
Romeo: I take thee at thy word my beauteous lady!
Juliet: Oh my god, how did you get in here?! If my kinsmen see you, you’d be dead!
Romeo: I am a person that came over the walls of your house with the wings of love. I carry true and passionate love with me. My love is motivating me to do everything, so therefore your relatives are no obstacle! I would risk anything to gain you!
Juliet: If it wasn’t dark out, you would see me blushing for all the things I’m saying tonight. In good manners I would deny them all… But. Do you love me?! I know you’ll say yes, and I’ll believe you. But if you swear, you might be lying.
Romeo: Juliet, I swear by the moon-
Juliet: Don’t swear at the constant-changing moon! In fact, don’t swear at all! But if you do have to swear, swear by your true and passionate self!
Romeo: If my heart’s love-
Juliet: Don’t swear! You bring me joy, but I can’t make promises tonight. It’s too rash, too sudden.
Romeo: I would be satisfied if you pledge me your love.
Juliet: I gave mine to you before you asked for it. But I will give it again! (Nurse calls) I hear a voice inside! Romeo! Oh, if you really love me and want to marry me, send me word tomorrow! I’ll send a messenger to you, so pass messages to me!
Romeo: My soul depends on it-
Juliet: A thousand times good night! (comes back again) Romeo!
Romeo: my sweet?
Juliet: What time should I send word to you?
Romeo: at 9:00.
Juliet: I will not fail! Good night, good night, parting is such sweet sorrow…
Exeut Juliet
Romeo: I hope you have a great sleep! Now I shall go see my priest, and tell him all about this!!
Exeut Romeo

Scene 3
(Friar Lawrence’s cell)

Romeo: Good morning, father!
Friar: Who’s greeting me this early in the morning? Romeo, if you’re out of bed this early, something’s wrong. You, Romeo, have not been to bed tonight! May God forgive you if you’re sinned! Were you with Rosaline!
Romeo: No, of course not. I have forgotten about her already. I love rich Capule’s daughter! Father, I beg you to make us married today!
Friar: Holy Saint Francis! What a change! I remember you being so depressed because of Rosalind just some days ago, and now… You’ve forgotten about her and moved on?! Then repeat this after me: you can’t expect women to be faithful when men are so unreliable.
Romeo: You told be to bury my love for Rosaline.
Friar: But not to replace her!
Romeo: Please, don’t scold me! This girl i love right now returns love, unlike Rosaline.
Friar: Fine… Young man, come with me. This marriage may be lucky enough to turn the hatred between your families into pure love.

Scene 4
Mercutio: Where the heck is Romeo?
Benvolio: Tybalt sent a challenge to Romeo yesterday. And Romeo's going to answer it.
Mercutio: Oh poor Romeo! He’s already dead. The centre of his heart has been split by blind cupid’s arrow. Is he manly enough at this point to face Tybalt?
Enter Romeo
Benvolio: Hey! Here comes Romeo!
Mercutio: He looks skinny, like a herring without its eggs. Oh flesh, flesh, you’ve been turned weak like a dried fish. Signor Romeo, Bonjour! You faked us out pretty good last night?
Romeo: Good morning to you both. What wrong did I do you last night?
Mercutio: The slip, sir, the slip.
Romeo: I’m sorry but I had important business to take care of.
Enter Nurse with Peter
Benvolio: A sail, a sail!
Nurse: Peter! My fan, Peter!
Mercutio: Oh, you’d better give her the fan, Peter, to cover her face. The fan is way prettier.
Nurse: Good morning Gentlemen! Can any of you tell me where to find Romeo?
Romeo: I can tell you, but young Romeo will be older when you find him than he was when you started looking for him.
Nurse: if you are the Romeo I’m looking for… I need to talk to you.
Mercutio: Romeo, aren’t you going to your father’s church? Let’s go.
Romeo: I’ll be right behind you.
Exeut Benvolio and Mercutio
Nurse: Peter! Those men were making fun of me! Why didn’t you step out!
Peter: If any of them were making fun of you, I would’ve noticed, but they didn’t.
Nurse: Ugh… Young man, my mistress told me to find you. AND I HOPE YOU’RE NOT TRICKING HER YOUNG HEART.
Romeo: Nurse, give regards to your lady, I swear-
Nurse: yes yes I’m sure she will be happy.
Romeo: Nurse, tell Juliet to revise a plan and escape her house to the abbey this afternoon. In Friar Lawrence’s cell we shall marry. Also, in an hour, one of my men will give you a rope ladder. I will use that ladder to climb over the walls at night.
Nurse: May God bless you, young man.
Romeo: Give my compliments to your lady!
Nurse: Yes, a thousand times! Peter!
Peter: Ready!
Nurse: *gives Peter her fan* go! go quickly!

Scene 6

Friar: May the heavens be happy of this holy marriage, and may nothing unfortunate happen later to make us regret it!

Romeo: Amen amen…

Enter Juliet

Juliet: Good evening, my spiritual confessor.

Friar: Romeo will thank you, my dear, for both of us.

Romeo: Ah, Juliet! Tell me about the happiness you imagine for our marriage!

Juliet: I can imagine more than I can say! My true love has made me so rich that I can’t even count half of my wealth!

Friar: Come with me, you two, and let’s do the job quickly. I won’t leave you two alone unless you’re united in marriage.

Act 3

Scene 1

Benvolio: Mercutio, let's go. The Capulets are also here. I do not want to be in any fight!
Mercutio: Wow! Wow! What a surprise that you are the one who are lecturing me about quarrelling!
Benvolio: Oh stop it. Look! Here come the Capulets! (alarmed)
(Enter Tybalt and the others and Romeo)
Tybalt: Romeo, why do you run! You are a villain!
Romeo: I am not a villain, and I have never offended you. Capulet is a name that I value as much as my own. So! Be satisfied with that!
Mercutio: You are a coward! Romeo! (looks at Tybalt) Oh good, king of cats, would you dare to draw your sword from its sheath?!
Tybalt: I am ready for you!
(They fight)
Romeo: Stop! Stop it, you guys! The prince said that we should never fight again. Come on, Benvolio! Let's break them up!
(Romeo comes between Tybalt and Mercutio. Tybalt stabs Mercutio)
Mercutio: Ahhhhhhhh! I am hurt! Damn you and the Capulets! I am dying. Ahhhhh Curse you and your families!
(Tybalt came back triumphantly)
Romeo: Tybalt! You killed one of my best friends! Either you, or I, or both of us must go with him!
(They fight, Romeo kills Tybalt)
Benvolio: Oh no! Run! Romeo! Run! The prince will kill you if he sees you!
Enter Prince
Prince: Ohh what has happened here! (depressed and angry) Tybalt killed Mercutio, and Romeo killed Tybalt! Because of this offence, we will banish Romeo immediately.

Scene2
Juliet: How I wish night would come sonner! Night is when I can be with Romeo and fall into his arms. Oh dear, here comes my nurse. Why are you crying? What has happened?
Nurse: He is dead! He is dead! We are ruined! Oh nooooooooo! He is dead! Oh my lady! Tybalt is gone, and Romeo is banished.
Juliet: O God! Did Romeo's hand shed Tybalt's blood? How did a monster, like him, manage to conceal itself so well?
Nurse: there is no loyalty or honesty in men! They are all liars! Shame on Romeo!
Juliet: May your tongue be blistered for saying that! My poor husband! No words can describe how sorrowful I am right now!
Nurse: oh my dear, stop crying. I will find Romeo to comfort you.
Juliet: O find him, give this ring to my true knight and bid him come to take his last farewell.

Scene 3:

Romeo: oh tell me! What is the prince's judgment?
Friar: Hence from Verona art thou banished. Be patient, for the world is broad and wide!
Romeo: There is no world without Verona walls but hell itself. Heaven is here where Juliet lives.
Friar: O deadly sin, o rude unthankfulness. You could have been given the death penalty for what you have done! This is dear mercy and thou seest it not. Now get up. You are crying like a woman. Now, go meet Juliet and say your farewell. Then, go to Mantua before the guards find you! Your servant will pass on whatever happens here to you.

Scene 4:
Capulet: My dear son, on Thursday you shall be married to my daughter, Juliet.
Paris nods happily.

Scene 5:
Juliet: Please don't go, my dear love. It's not day yet. Please, stay a little longer.
Romeo: Let me be arrested, let me be put to death. If this is what you want, I will be alright with it.
Nurse: Your mother is coming into the room! On your guard and be careful.
Romeo: Goodbye, goodbye.
(enter Lady Capulet)
Lady Capulet: Still weeping for your cousin’s death? Alright, stop crying. I have got good news for you, my girl. You and the young, noble gentleman, Paris, shall get married early Thursday morning.
Juliet: Please tell my father, I will not marry yet.
(enter Capulet)
Capulet: What’s this!!! What’s this?!? You disobedient girl! Get to church on Thursday, or never look at me in the face ever again.
(Capulet and Lady Capulet left)
Juliet: Oh nurse. What do I do? Comfort me please!
Nurse: I think it best you married with the County. Trust me, he is a lovely gentleman.
Juliet: Ancient damnation! I will share none of my secrets with you from now on. I’ll ask the Friar instead. If all else fail, myself have power to die.

Act 4:

Friar: Thursday? That’s very soon.
Paris: Capulet worries that Juliet is grieving too much over the the death of my cousin,Tybalt, so he rushes our marriage to comfort her.
Friar: Oh, here comes Juliet. (to Paris) I must ask you to leave now.
Juliet: Oh, shut the door. I beg you to tell me how I can prevent this marriage! You can tell me to do anything!
Friar: Dear daughter, listen to me. Tell your family that you agree to marry Paris, but tomorrow night, take this sleep-inducing drug. Your pulse will then stop, and you will appear as if you are dead. Then, according to traditions, you will be carried to the Capulet family tomb. In the meantime, Romeo will come to your rescue after receiving my letter, and that night he will take you to Mantua.

Juliet: Here is the vial. What if this mixture doesn’t work? What if I wake up in the tomb before Romeo comes to save me? Oh stop it, Juliet! You are drinking this for Romeo! Romeo, here I come! (drinks)

Capulet: (speaking to nurse) Go wake up Juliet! Help her get dressed!
Nurse: Juliet, Juliet! Wake up! What? You are dressed already? But you are still sleeping? (notices something peculiar) Oh no!!! Help! Someone Help! Juliet is dead! She is dead!
Lady Capulet: Oh my, Oh my! My lovely child! Wake up or I will die with you!
Capulet: Make space! Let me see her. Oh no! Her blood has stopped, her joints are stiff, and she is cold. All the things that we had prepared for the wedding would now be used for her funeral!

Enter Balthasar
Romeo: Balthasar! Do you have news from Verona?! How’s Juliet? How’s my lady!!
Balthasar: She is well, and she sleeps in the Capulet’s tomb, and her immortal soul lives with the angels in heaven. Sorry to bring you this sad news, sir, but it is my job.
Romeo: Is this true! Curse you, stars! I shall leave for Verona tonight. Balthasar, don’t you have a letter from the friar?
Balthsar: No sir.
Romeo: No matter. Get the horses ready and I’ll be right there with you.

John: *shakes head* tried everything I could, brother! But there was an outbreak of disease, the town was sealed, no way in and no way out.
Lawrence: What unhappy fortune! Friar John, get me an iron crowbar. bring it straight back to my cell!
Exit John
Lawrence: I must go find Juliet. Oh she would be sad if she finds out that Romeo didn’t receive the message. I will keep her in my cell until Romeo comes. Poor Juliet! A living person shut in a dead man’s grave.

Scene 3

Paris: *enters Juliet’s grave and scatters flowers on her grave* Oh sweet flower. Oh Juliet. I’ll water these flowers every night with sweet water. *hears something* but wait, someone approaches! I must hide myself!
Romeo: You horrible mouth of death! *speaking to tomb* You’ve consumed so much human beings, now I shall pry you open and make you devour another!
Paris: Stop! You vile Montague! You can’t take revenge on dead bodies! I’ve caught you now, obey and come with me, you must die!
Romeo: I must indeed, that’s why i’m here! Go away, you!

Paris: I reject! I’m arresting you!

Romeo: Are you trying to provoke me? Let’s fight!

(they fight)

(Paris dies)

Romeo: *opens tomb and lays Paris in there* Oh Juliet! Why are you still so beautiful? Don’t worry, I will stay with you. *takes out poison* Come, Bitter poison, come! Here’s to my love! The pharmacist’s right, the drugs work fast! So here I die with a kiss.

Enter Capulet and Lady Capulet

Capulet: What's the problem? I hear noises!

Lady Capulet: I keep hearing people on the streets, some crying "Romeo", some crying "Juliet" and some crying "Paris". They are all running to this place!

Capulet: Oh heavens! Oh wife! Look at how our daughter bleeds in her tomb!

Lady Capulet: OH MY!!!

Enter Montague

Montague: my wife died last night. It was sadness over the death of our dear son Romeo.

Prince: Friar Lawrence, what do you know about this?

Friar: Here lies Romeo and Juliet. A faithful couple whom I married, they were madly and passionately in love with each other. When Capulet forced her into marriage with Paris, trying to cure her of her sadness over Tybalt. She came to me, asking me to devise a plan for her to escape this second marriage. I gave her this potion for her to fake her death before the wedding day, and sent word to Romeo telling him about the plan. BUT! FATE WAS AGAINST US. The message never reached Romeo. Romeo, believing that Juliet is dead, comes to this tomb to die. I was coming here to get Juliet out of her tomb, but by the time I got here, Paris and Romeo are all dead. Juliet, seeing this awful scene, kills herself to join her husband.

Prince: Capulet! Montague! Do you see what has come out of your feud! See what great evil evolved from your hate!

Capulet: Brother Montague, give me your hand. This is my daughter's dowry, I can ask for nothing more.

Montague: But I'll give you more, I'll make a statue of Juliet in gold.

Capulet and Montague: This feud... IS OVER.

Prince: A glooming peace this morning with it brings. The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head. Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things. Some shall be pardoned, and some punishèd. For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
